..to see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly, day by day.
That’s my new favourite song, it is one of those songs we sing back in the day on our assembly ground in school and I’m almost sure many of us didn’t really know the essence of the song, we just saw it as another sweet assembly song.
Actually, it was just recently I realised that there’s power in these songs enough to break down the fiercest of hearts and melt you down in tears, if true meaning was attached to it.
Scripture says in Phil 3:10 – ‘That i may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings being made comformable unto his death’
It also says in Dan 11:32b -‘..the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits’
So I throw it to you do you know your God?, the one that created the whole universe and everything beautiful in 6days?
Hmmn, the power in the knowing of anything is what gives you the confidence to tell others about it. Just like i went to the University, read my book and to the glory of God, I could defend my project because I know it, the same applies to God, many of us claim to preach, we say we’re busy winning souls to God when in fact we’re bysy doing nothing.
‘If you do not know God,you can’t be of service to him, you’re simply just existing’
I just hope that didn’t shock you.
The other song says ‘Open the eyes of my heart Lord, I want to se you, to see you high and lifted up, shinning…’, that song makes you begin to picture God, in his beauty, his shinning garment, overflowing in all its glory, oh my! remember the book of revelations not being enough to describe his splendour, all the more reason why we anticipate seeing him.
Now that same God that made the Universe, the Sun, the moon and all planets, those things that explorers all over the world travel to study them for years, is worth seeking, he’s worth finding and knowing. God that is constantly in the job of creation, call it manufacturing and distributing of babies to where he deems them fit..isn’t he amazing?
Scripture says in Psa 63:1 – ‘…early will i seek you, my soul thirst for you, my heart longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water’
Psa 42:1 also says – ‘as the deer pants for the water brooks, so my souls longs after you’
This is how fuelled our hunger should be for God, it is in the knowing of God that we are forever settled, because if you do, you’ll already know ahead, God would have given you heads up, so whenever the challenge wants to rear its ugly head, you can then combat it with God right beside you.
Guys pls let us know God, the more we know, the more we want to know of him, let us be the desperate people that are tired of the status quo, there’s so much more in God and just like adventure seekers, we can journey into the word/world of God(THE BIBLE)..check it out today, like right now..smiles
